No Preference Deal

Why Vote for an Independent?

At her campaign launch on Friday, October 15th, Janet  addressed the issue of Preferences.

Janet will not be directing her Preferences to any other candidate in this election.

In her speech, Janet said:

“I would like to quote from the first Media Release from Peter Andren when he stood as the Independent Member for Calare in the 1996 Federal election.

He said: I believe that our area needs a local member with strength and integrity and an ability to fight for the many needs of this area. This is a chance for the seat to have its own representative – not a party nominee.  I am a true independent and will not be directing my preferences to any other candidates”.

Janet wholeheartedly supports those comments from Peter Andren and as a true independent has advised that she will not be directing her preferences to any other candidate in this election.

Janet said  ”Those who vote for Janet Mays will do so in the full knowledge that they are voting for me and me alone and that their vote won’t send a candidate, not of their choosing, to the NSW State Parliament”.

No Preference deal… Yes, that sounds good. However it doesnt really answer the question-Is this candidate really independant or is she like some other independents and have a leaning toward a particular party. I decided to learn more about Janet Mays because of her, in my opinion, sensible approach to the “Ethics Classes”. I’m disapointed that the Liberals will ban the option of having Ethics classes in schools. Surely parents and children should not have their freedom of choice taken from them.
