Dear Janet,
Whilst an indipendent inquiry is a very good idea I would be very concerned if it was used to slow a commitment on sustainable energy. Over and over agin we have seen polititians promise to cut emissions by large percentages only for that to be set aside. Your above article is comendible and I am in full agreement with you, however I am also very concerned that our progrssion to a respossible relationship with our enviroment will be set back by the financial hardship the rising power costs have brought. We need that inquiry but we need to use it to fuel a creative and compassionate path to cutting our emissions.
Best Regards
Wendy Forbes

Thank goodness you are on to them Janet (that liberal religious rite-off)! I felt like we'd gone back to the dark-ages. That's why I'm voting for YOU Ms Mays... you stand for CHOICE and CHANGE and many other things as well. A big thank you from all of us, especially Ms Adelaide 2009.

I agree with your comments Ms Mays; especially essential services and hospitals. I'd like some more Liberals to speak about their policies on the public record. How will these policies, especially health, affect us here in The Blue Mountains? And should their candidate win, will she guarantee to resign if the O'Farrell govt closes Katoomba Hospital after all the promises from Jillian Skinner and BOF.

Hi Janet, I've read your manifesto and I agree with most everything you say. However, whilst I too despair of the ever increasing number of trucks on the GWH, I really believe that the road between Katoomba and Blackheath is in urgent need of an overhaul. It could at least be widened to three lanes in a number of locations. There have been numerous times over the years when a traffic accident has effectively closed the road for a number of hours in both directions.Should a major catastrophe occur in the Upper Mountains, an effective escape corridor is essential; bearing in mind that extreme weather events are becoming more prevalent, not to mention bushfires. Climate change is a stark reality and the sooner the sceptics wake up - the better.

I just flew back to Sydney from Adelaide. The train trip home to the Blue Mountains from Central took longer. While my Melbourne colleagues were back home having dinner with their families I was sitting on a train. Doesn't add up. And I'm tired of the passenger load argument from CityRail - Western Sydney residents should not have to fund my trip and a mountains express train should be just that - the wrong business model is in place.

Secondly, the number of heavy trucks and semis is increasing - as is the amount of native road kill - to alarming proportions - the big message to state government is increase RAIL FREIGHT FOR THE BLUE MOUNTAINS while reducing trucks by charging a levy to use road freight through the mountains!! Do you know of any other government that would allow trucks to dominate a world heritage area???

I read your policy statement summary sent in the mail and it ticks all the right boxes for Blue Mountains residents. Its time to look at the alternative to party politics in our community. We have had some fine state members in the past but they were fried at the stake by the party machine.

Janet is not just a KTBH alternative - the policy platform is impressive and would be hard to not instil confidence in any mountains resident. We have an absentee federal member - lets not have that happen in the state election!
